Stages and Process of an Ambient Evaluation

To perform an ambient evaluation, TOXIKÓN Higiene Industrial execute the following stages:

LOCALE VISIT: recognition of hazards, ambient and working conditions. Usually conducted by Prof. Dr. Sérgio Colacioppo.

SPECIFIC COST ESTIMATE: flexible to meet company's need.

SAMPLING BEGINS: from 5 to 45 days after approval of working schedule and budget. Sampling is performed by TOXIKÓN's field team under Prof. Dr. Sérgio Colacioppo coordination.

ANALYSIS and FINAL REPORT: including results interpretation and eventual suggestion of control measures. Maximum 15 days after last field sampling.

Workplace air sampling duration depends on the substance being evaluated. To be able to estimate the time weighed average, with good certainty margin, sampling must comprise at least close to 80% of a working day. Time weighed average represents workers exposure to long term toxicity chemicals.
For short term toxicity chemicals and in short operations in which high air concentrations might occur, sampling must comprise the activity lapse only.

In several activities, with exposure to various solvents, formaldehide and ethylene oxide, it is possible to use passive monitors, which are ease to use by the company personnel. However, it is essential to previously contact TOXIKÓN Higiene Industrial to verify applicability for each specific case.
For substances not collectable by passive monitors (some solvents, gases, dust, metals, etc.) it is necessary to use sampling pumps, specific collecting elements and specialized personnel.
