Qualified and Trained Personnel

TOXIKÓN Assessoria Toxicológica's board of directors is formed by competent professionals, graduated at the University of São Paulo, specialized in toxicological analysis, toxicology and biochemistry, with postgraduation (Masters & Ph.D.) and specialization courses and probations in foreign countries.
The technical area is conducted by highly qualified and experienced pharmaceutic-biochemists, which often participate in updating and improving courses.
Technicians and assistants, as well as the administration staff, also receive frequent training.

Specific equipments and instruments

TOXIKÓN Assessoria Toxicológica uses 'state of the art' apparatus, instruments and equipments, frequently calibrated and adjusted.
Most equipments are microprocessed, adquired from companies with recognized competence and quality, with whom we stablish preventive and corrective maintenance contracts to avoid service delay and discontinuance.
Among the equipment used we detach:
  • Gas Chromatograph (GC) equiped with automatic sample injection, different columns (packed, megabore or capillar), flame ionization or electron capture detectors and microprocessor controlled operation and registration systems. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
  • High pressure liquid cromatograph (HPLC) equiped with automatic sample injection, on line solvent degasing, microprocessor controlled operation and registration systems, temperature and solvent gradient forming device and a variety of columns kind and length. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
  • Atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) with automatic sampling and microprocessor controlled operation and registration systems, using flame, hydrate generation and graphite furnace. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
  • Visible and ultraviolet spectrophotometer (UV/Vis) with microprocessor controlled operation and registration systems, narrow band width and continuos sampling device. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
  • Hematofluorimeter with microprocessor controlled verification and registration systems, calibrated with comercial standards. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
  • Potentiometer with ion specific electrodes (IS) and microprocessor controlled operation and registration systems. See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"

    Standarized and validated techniques and methods

    TOXIKÓN Assessoria Toxicológica uses analytical techniques recomended by     NR-7, as:
  • Gas cromatography (GC)
  • High pressure liquid cromatography (HPLC)
  • Atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS)
  • Visible and ultraviolet spectrophotomety (UV/Vis)
  • Photofluorometry
  • Ion selective potentiometry (IS)
    All methods are based on recognized criterion and internationally recommended by entities as NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health - USA), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration - USA) and DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).
    Techniques validation is performed following standarized protocols and in accordance to actual Total Quality norms. Precision, exactness, linearity, sensitivity, recovery, robustness, selectivity and stability parameters are perfectly defined and stablished.

    Quality Control Programs

    TOXIKÓN Assessoria Toxicológica joins several interlaboratory quality control programs, conducted mainly by foreign countries entities.
    Inward, quality control is a mayor and constant concern which involve in daily routine:
  • elaboration of a calibration curve using certified commercial standards;
  • using known value samples pools;
  • checking analytical performance of every routine by introducing internal quality control samples of various concentration (low, medium and high);
  • conducting every analysis in at least, duplicate;
  • repeting process whenever replica results deviation is higher than acceptable;
  • confirming any unexpected result.
    Periodically oficial standards simulated samples obtained from competent suppliers are also analysed.
    To verify analytical reproductiveness, QAM (Quality Assurance Managment) frequently and without the knowledge of the technical staff, introduces double blind samples in the routine.
    At least trimensual, internal audits are conducted for every laboratories routine.
    All these processes are adequately documented. Proceeding for any non conformity is previously defined and have very high priority
    If any doubt vestige, no matter how little, about any result confidence still remains, a new sample is requested.
    TOXIKÓN Assessoria Toxicológica sustain technical, scientifical, and in many cases, personal bonds with national and abroad reference centres, research institutions and universities.

    Adequated documentation systems

    The documentation of every operating, analytical and administrative process is defined by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) stablished universally and also adopted in Brazil (INMETRO).
    Every request, result, routine, non conformity, etc. is suitable documented using informatized system. This documentation enable fact trackability many years after occurrence.
    Security copies (back up) comprising all data are kept in magnetic (disquettes and tapes) or modern optic (CD-ROM) media. These copies and replica are shelfed in secure places for at least ten years.     See photos at "Visiting TOXIKÓN"
