These tests are accomplished by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) followed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) for confirmation, as recomended internationally and performed by most reputable laboratories around the world.
The use of these determinations by the company, should be part of a Drug Free Workplace Program. A well conducted program must aim in first place the precocious diagnose of addiction, treatment and recovering the addicted person. Usually the program includes admissional, periodical, pos accident, motivated and randomic tests.
For these determinations, not only the analytical quality and reliability of the laboratory but also the sample integrity and identification accuracy have enormous importance. For this purpose TOXIKÓN developes and offers to its clients a sampling kit which facilitate and standardize the sampling and shipping procedures. The kit, besides the collecting (container and bottles) and preserving (gel pack and ice box) devices, includes tamper-evident seals, unique identification labels and the test requesting form. The form characteristics constitute the first record of the chain of custody that will go along with the process up to the final report.
